IPL Laser — Intense Pulsed Light
A non-invasive, light-based therapy that delivers long-term hair reduction and full skin rejuvenation — treating sun damage, rosacea, age spots, and uneven tone with zero downtime.

About This Treatment
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is one of the most versatile non-invasive technologies in modern medical aesthetics. Unlike single-wavelength lasers, IPL emits a broad spectrum of light that can be precisely filtered and calibrated to address a wide range of skin and hair concerns in a single platform — making it an exceptional choice for clients looking to treat multiple concerns simultaneously.
At Glow Me Now Medical Spa, our IPL treatments are performed by experienced clinical professionals who customize every session to your unique skin tone, concern, and treatment goal. Whether you are looking for long-term hair reduction or a clearer, more radiant complexion, IPL offers clinically proven results with minimal disruption to your daily life.
How IPL Works
IPL devices emit rapid pulses of broad-spectrum light through a handheld applicator placed gently against the skin. The light energy is selectively absorbed by target chromophores — either melanin (the pigment in hair follicles and skin spots) or oxyhemoglobin (the pigment in blood vessels responsible for redness). This selective absorption converts light energy into heat, which damages the target structure while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. The body then naturally clears the damaged cells over the following days and weeks, revealing clearer, smoother skin or a significant reduction in hair regrowth.
Treatment Types Available
Skin Rejuvenation (Photofacial): Directed pulses of light penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, where the heat gently breaks down unwanted melanin deposits responsible for brown spots, freckles, and sun damage. At the same time, the thermal energy targets and constricts the dilated capillaries and tiny blood vessels that cause persistent facial redness and rosacea. The body then naturally flushes these damaged pigment clusters and collapsed vessels away, leaving the skin visibly more even-toned, brighter, and refreshed. A series of treatments progressively clears discolouration and stimulates collagen production for a smoother overall skin texture.
Hair Reduction: IPL targets the melanin within active hair follicles during the growth phase, delivering heat that disrupts the follicle's ability to produce new hair. Because hair cycles through growth and resting phases, a series of sessions is needed to capture follicles at their most receptive stage. The result is a progressive, long-term reduction in hair density and regrowth — leaving skin noticeably smoother with each session. IPL is most effective on darker hair contrasted against lighter skin tones; our team will assess your hair and skin profile at consultation to confirm suitability.
Vascular and Redness Reduction: Targeted IPL pulses are absorbed by oxyhemoglobin in superficial blood vessels, gently heating and collapsing spider veins, broken capillaries, and areas of diffuse redness caused by conditions such as rosacea. Over the course of treatment, the body reabsorbs the treated vessels, leading to a visibly calmer, more uniform complexion.
What to Expect
Each IPL session typically takes between 20 and 45 minutes depending on the area being treated. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick warm snap — similar to the flick of a rubber band — which is well tolerated without the need for topical anaesthetic. Skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after treatment, and any pigmented spots may temporarily darken before naturally flaking away within 7 to 14 days. There is no significant downtime, and most clients return to normal activities the same day with appropriate sun protection in place.
